Barry Martin
Paintings from the 1970s 5 - 29 Oct 2021 Waterhouse & Dodd are proud to present and exhibition of paintings by renowned British artist, Barry Martin. Martin (born in 1943) studied at Goldsmith’s College and St Martin’s in London during the 1960s and developed a practice which included painting, drawing, kinetic sculpture and performance. Our exhibition concentrates on his abstract oils produced during the 1970s which display his continued interest in light, space and time. His work can be found in many leading public collections, including the Tate Gallery, Arts Council and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. In 2008 a major publication about his works written by Julius Bryant and titled The Tomorrow Of My Yesterday – The complete works of Barry Martin, was published. Architectural paintings and drawings from 1958-1999 15 Jun - 9 Jul 2021 Waterhouse & Dodd (London) are delighted to present an exhibition devoted to Dennis Creffield's architectural paintings and drawings. The show will include works from his iconic cathedral series and also his well-known views of Greenwich and Woolwich in London. Our exhibition will include the urban landscapes of the cities he lived in over the years, from London to Leeds and on to Brighton. We will also select works from his various commissions, including the National Trust collaborations (Orford Ness and Petworth House). While it is impossible to curate an exhibition to do full justice to the subject in the space we have, visitors will be able to see how, both by accident and design, Dennis became one of England's most distinctive chroniclers of domestic architecture (both ancient and modern).
