Having worked with the estate of Georges Folmer since 2006, we are pleased to present a short retrospective of his work. Comprising of 15 artworks, the exhibition has been curated to show the artist’s evolution from Cubism to pure geometric abstraction. With specially selected works including many from the artist’s estate, all artworks are for sale at prices starting from $5,000 (£4,500).
The title of the exhibition, a quotation from the artist, refers to the absolute certainty with which Folmer created these works: “… there is never a sense of their having developed on the canvas; instead they have emerged fully formed, as if there was never the possibility of their looking in any way different.” In the course of a career among many of the most progressive and avant-garde artists of the 20th century, Folmer spent his life reaching out for eternal truths through his art, but with a clarity of vision and an inexhaustible desire to rationalise and to express the world in terms that he at least could understand.
