This October Waterhouse & Dodd are proud to host an exhibition of new work by Juliette Losq.
Losq's watercolours and installations form immersive environments into which the viewer may feel they can walk or fall into. She is a landscape artist, but one for whom the landscape is almost a backdrop for man-made structures. Losq challenges the traditional ideas of watercolour and using resist technique, Losq works over the surface repetitively as if building up an etching plate, creating multiple painted layers which simultaneously obscure and reveal those beneath.
Losq won the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2005 and graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2010. Internationally she has exhibited in Paris, Seoul and New York. Selected for the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize 2014 shown at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, she was the winner of the Visitors' Choice award.
