Jonathan Dodd has more than 40 years’ experience of the London Art Trade and in that time has been responsible for the buying and selling of more than 10,000 artworks and exhibiting at more than 100 art fairs.
Jonathan took an MA in Law and History of Art at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and after graduating joined the London print dealers Baynton-Williams. Three years later he left to work with Ray Waterhouse at Galerie George, with galleries in the West End and in Kensington specialising in 19th and 20th century art. In 1987 they formed Waterhouse & Dodd and opened a gallery on the 1st floor of 110 New Bond Street. Now, 38 years later, Jonathan is the sole owner of Waterhouse & Dodd Ltd.
Originally specialising in European paintings of the late 19th and early 20th century, his expertise extends from 18th century to contemporary art. He currently represents a number of artists’ estates including those of Trevor Bell (British 1930-2017), Richard Eurich (British 1903-1992), Dorothy Mead (British 1928-1975), Jon Schueler (American 1916-1992) and Georges Folmer (French 1895-1977).
Jonathan is married to a writer and picture framer, Annabelle Dodd, founder of Canford & Co.
